Share the Meal Campaign

As economic activity grinds to a halt due to the COVID-19 crisis, the urban poor & the marginalised face immediate deprivation. Food aid provided by the government or NGOs is not reaching those in the most need.

It is brought to our team’s awareness that there is a refugee community that has been enduring hunger and starvation for a week and some were only surviving on rice and salt. The migrant workers had been on daily wage if they had jobs, and a few working ones would support the entire community. Without income, the whole community would be stranded with no food and nowhere to turn to for help.

We took the opportunity to provide meals and food provision for the refugee families – this is the beginning of our Share The Meal campaign.

We begin to receive more requests to help the refugee and migrant communities of different ethnicities; as well as the urban poor.

Now, we are also working with our suppliers to get them involved in playing their part to join us in supplying more provisions together. We started from feeding about 100 pax a day to feeding 100 families a day (all within a week). There are overwhelming requests that we receive daily. With the freedom of movement, our sector has been given to provide food delivery, we would like to support as many who in need as possible during this time.

We appreciate monetary donations as well as in-kind sponsorships of basic essential food items such as milk, rice, cooking oil, canned food, eggs, instant noodles, biscuits, etc. We are grateful to have a dedicated team of people who are willing to serve at the forefront bringing food to the most vulnerable.

At the same time, we are humbled to learn the joy of sharing with someone less fortunate than us. No matter what, we will stand together and uphold a collaborative spirit – a spirit that unites us as a nation.
